Risk Management, Due Diligence and Audit Services
A large part of our business is helping our client to minimise risk.
An effective audit process is essential to setting the baseline case for any due diligence process, be it for commercial reasons such as financing of an operation, acquisition or merger, or establishing baseline property pre-condition surveys (for example in relation to contaminated materials at industrial sites).
Our experienced Senior Auditors can provide an independent assessment that can meet your environmentally related due diligence and compliance needs. Examples of the projects we have been involved in include:
-
environmental audits for both the Bellambi and Goulburn Roads and Traffic Authority Depots. Issues included noise, air emissions, discharge to sewer and stormwater, environmentally hazardous materials/dangerous goods storage, site contamination, and waste minimisation and management.
-
2004 due diligence audit of landfill gas to energy facilities for Landfill Management Services. as part of pre financing investigations for establishment of operations at Swanbank, Rochedale and Ipswich landfills. Aspects included confirmation that the gas extraction projections were achievable, assessment of the field operations and response procedures, review of contractual obligations, review of the technology to be used on each project, in particular the engine performances and costs, review of the technical inputs to the financial model, and review of the regulatory framework.
-
due diligence assessment for AV Jennings to identify environmental risks and recommended measures prior to involvement in a sensitive urban development project. The review assessed the existing reports on environmental factors such as heritage, contamination, remediation, endangered species, hazardous materials and geotechnical constraints. The first stage of the risk assessment was to identify the risk events that may occur to AV Jennings and to quantify these in terms of the consequence and the likelihood. Consequences were assessed in terms of project management, project costs, marketing potential, construction management and legislative compliance. The results indicated a number of key areas that required attention and subsequent recommendations, including cost and time estimates, were made to assist AV Jennings in their project management.
-
due diligence audit of landfill gas to energy facilities for Landfill Management Services for establishment of operations at South Cardup, Atlas, Darwin, Tweed and Wollert landfill. Aspects included confirmation that the gas extraction projections were achievable, and review of the gas projections to the extent that these influenced the LMS financial model.
-
due diligence assessment of the new UR3R putrescible waste processing facility located at the Eastern Creek landfill in western Sydney. The technology employed at this facility was being considered for the establishment of ten similar operations in Lancashire, England. The assessment highlighted key aspects of the operation, discussed some of the significant issues that have arisen during the commissioning phase, and identified some of the potential risks to be considered if this facility was to be transferred to England.
-
compliance review of the consent conditions for the Clarence Valley and Coffs Harbour Regional Water Supply project. The review was commissioned by the project Inter-Agency Review Committee established for the project. Key tasks included a gap analysis to determine if the project implementation had been in accordance with the project determination and concurrence conditions; and to provide recommendations for improvements to the current compliance assurance procedures utilised by the project managers, the Department of Commerce.
